Creating a Space Just for Family Time
In my last blog, “Creating a Space Just for You”, I discussed spaces designed for personal-time … which we all need. It’s also just as important to have social time as well. With the hustle and bustle of today’s world we still need to find time to spend with our loved ones.
I love when I see homes planned around social engagement outside of the traditional living room “cookie-cutter” template. Every family lives differently and should have spaces that work with their lifestyles.
These homeowners took an unused corner of a room and transformed it into a multi-functional space. In the morning this space can be used to read the paper, watch the news, and enjoy a hot cup of coffee. In the evening, it can be your destination to read a book, play a board game with the family, play a video game or work on homework.
A window seat's primary function doesn’t necessarily have to be just for sitting and gazing at the view. You can also use the boot bench space to store workout equipment, games, children's toys, and use it for extra seating when entertaining.
This open-concept living area defines an area for family gathering and socializing. By placing seating and a beverage center with hidden storage for games, books and other supplies this space creates the perfect setting for the family to gather.
