While varying shades of gray are the neutral of choice for many, others tend to find that the color gray can look cold and depressing. What do you do when you want to warm things up and still make a style statement? Take a look at Knotty Alder, Cashew/Coffee. This wood/stain/glaze combination falls into the taupe family, a grayish brown neutral.
The rustic elements of the Knotty Alder lend themselves to the reclaimed wood look that is prevalent in the major retailer’s furniture catalogs, while the Cashew/Coffee finish brings out a silver gray tone in the alder that makes it look both gray and brown at the same time. If you want that time worn look with some understated elegance consider mixing a more formal looking raised panel door, such as Bella, with a not so formal wood species. Mix in some glaze to highlight everything and you will have a unique classic.
