Incorporating a Contemporary Kitchen into a Santa Fe Style Home
Contemporary and transitional styling have certainly increased in popularity in the last few years and we are seeing more and more kitchens being designed to feature clean, sleek lines. A Dura Supreme kitchen designer in Albuquerque New Mexico recently completed a contemporary kitchen that we think beautifully demonstrates this popular look.
Homes in Santa Fe, New Mexico oftentimes have a very specific architectural style. But when Susie Johnson, owner and designer for Dragonfly Kitchens partnered with architect, Andrea Carabello for a 25 year old home in the Las Campanas area of Santa Fe, a beautiful contemporary kitchen was created for this traditional Santa Fe residence!
Susie explained, “Andrea and I have partnered on several projects in the last 4 years and she is passionate about contemporary design. Our homeowner was a little scared, but trusted our vision and loves her new Dura Supreme kitchen!”
Susie explained one of her unique ideas for this kitchen that her homeowners really appreciate. For the pantry cabinet to the left of the refrigerator, Susie used a 24” deep tall cabinet with Roll-Out Shelves that are 21” deep. She then installed a light in the ceiling of the cabinet that can be turned on to cast light down the front of the Roll-Outs. When each Roll-Out is opened, the light shines directly on the contents in the Roll-Out. In addition, since the cabinet has Aluminum Frame doors with frosted glass inserts, the light can be turned on at night for soft illumination in the kitchen. Susie commented that sometimes it is these unique personal touches that add outstanding convenience and cause her clients to fall in love with their new Dura Supreme kitchen.
