Start with a Kitchen Wish List

“We started with a lengthy wish list for their new kitchen and I was able to design in almost everything they hoped to achieve!” explained Jenny Ferguson of Drexel Building Supply in Berlin, Wisconsin.  The existing kitchen was not only short on counter space, but it was walled off from the dining room which made entertaining and interaction challenging.

Kitchen Remodel Story Before Photo of Out Dated Kitchen Cabinets and Design.

With an active family, the homeowners wanted a larger space with countertop seating and an easy flow between the kitchen area and the dining area.  Of course with any remodeling project, there will be a few “give and takes” because of the existing floor plan, wall and window locations, plumbing locations, etc.

Ferguson explained, “For this kitchen, we removed one wall which created more space for the kitchen and appliances she wanted.  However, even with the additional space, there still wasn’t enough room for an island so we re-designed the peninsula so that we still had countertop seating.”

For this kitchen, the re-designed the kitchen peninsula so that we still had countertop seating when removing the old kitchen island from the design.
