A Kitchen that Reaches New Heights

This beautiful kitchen designed by Bella Domicile, Inc. in Madison, WI reaches new heights by taking advantage of vertical elements to add visual space to this Wisconsin kitchen.

The kitchen opens into a dining space with nearly floor to ceiling windows overlooking a beautiful, wooded back yard. With the panoramic views and the 9 ft. ceilings, the designer selected cabinetry to go from floor to ceiling; much like the windows at the back of the home. Designing the wall cabinetry to the ceiling emphasizes the ceiling height and the slab doors create simple lines at the door seams that give this kitchen it’s incredibly sleek personality.

A vertical grain was chosen for the cabinetry to accentuate the tall cabinets and stay consistent with the other vertical lines throughout the design.

For the countertops, Bella Domicile chose a Natural Quartz with the edge laying nearly flush with the cabinet doors to create a truly clean look. The island countertop uses a “waterfall” detail on the ends to the floor, to make it look as if it is all one piece. This style matches well with the beautiful slab door style and complements the vertical grain of the wood.

The floating cabinetry used for the dining room buffet coordinates with the kitchen to pull the space together, and creates the feeling of more floor space.

The homeowner’s request to integrate a small TV in the kitchen was one obstacle that needed a creative solution. Since the ideal location was at the end of a run of cabinets and against a wall where a hinge would normally open just 110 degrees, the doors would reduce the amount of usable space.  To solve this challenge, the designer chose a bi-fold hinge where the pair of doors meet. This allows the pair of doors to collapse in on themselves and out of the way to provide the best use of the space and visibility for the TV.

Vertical grain contemporary cabinets from Dura Supreme Cabinetry help make this kitchen space feel larger and taller. Light wood modern kitchen wall with sink and hidden kitchen TV.

Paying attention to the details certainly makes for a more spacious and functional kitchen. The final result is stunning!
