The original floorplan only had space for a small, tucked-away shower in the master bathroom but the homeowners knew this would not work well for their family of five. This Illinois family contacted designer, Jennifer Riordan of Plain & Posh Distinctive Cabinetry Design in Westmont, IL, to design a stunningly beautiful space that meets the needs of their young family now and in the future.

The area allotted for the master bathroom was re-designed to capture more space which created a long, tunnel-like room.  A transom window within the shower brought much-needed sunlight into the space and Riordan designed a luxurious shower room with glass doors to flood the room with light.

Taking a cue from the beautiful gray veining in the marble tile floors, a Personal Paint Match color, “Brewster Grey” from Benjamin Moore was selected for the vanity cabinetry as well as the millwork, trim, and interior doors.

To open up the space further, Riordan specified a stark white paint for the ceiling and walls, along with huge mirrors to reflect light.  The mirrors were designed to integrate with the cabinetry, covering the walls from the backsplash up to the crown molding at the top of the linen cabinetry.

His and her vanities are on opposite walls, gracefully mirroring each other in their design.  A linen cabinet provides lots of storage on “his” side while pretty open shelving with a mirrored back was designed on “her” side.  The additional mirror behind the open shelving provides a convenient cosmetics location for a small vanity drawer and chair.

This spa-like space with family-friendly features has been a welcome addition for this family!
