After the stain is applied by hand and sealed, our professional artisans apply the Cerused finish to the entire surface and then hand-wipe the surface to highlight the open grain. The pigmented filler, historically called “liming” or “cerused” is a contrasting pigment that fills the open grain and highlights the grain texture with a soft contrast. Cerused is an artistic, hand-detailing technique that will have unique, subtle variations with each application. A Cerused finish blends beautifully with a painted finish on cabinetry!
