How Paint Can Make a Rustic Style Door Contemporary

Breckenridge is often thought of as the rustic shaker, southwest, cabin, or lodge style door.  We often see it in Knotty Alder which really defines that style.

Look what happens when a painted finish is applied to the same door.  Now you have a transitional, almost contemporary, styled door that showcases the “stepped” detailing on the rails of the door.

The Transitional style has moved to the forefront in terms of specific design styles. While it incorporates some contemporary styling that says 21st century, it also provides some of the traditional elements that have stood the test of time and we are all familiar with.  In the case of the Breckenridge door, the traditional styling is reflected in the similarity to a Shaker door while the contemporary styling comes from the simple stepped detail in the rails and the crisp, clean painted finish. A simple cove molding and light rail would complete the overall look, along with sleek stainless, brushed nickel, or bronze hardware.
